The User Guide
Everything the panel does, in plain language — on Chrome, Brave, Edge or Firefox — how to arm it, what each setting means, how to leave it running overnight, and what it did.
Plan rounds with your crew? Connect Tee Groups, and every booking lands in your group automatically. How to connect.
Firefox user? The panel works identically on Firefox. See the Firefox installation guide for the signed .xpi install (Firefox 140+).
Try the panel — interactive demo
A look-alike playground, not the real sniper. Flip the toggles, switch ☀/☾, press ARM and watch a fake release morning play out. Nothing here books anything — the real panel lives in your browser, on your course's booking page.
Quick start (5 minutes)
- Install from the Chrome Web Store in Chrome, or follow the Firefox guide / Edge / Brave guide. Keep your license key for activation.
- Open your course's booking site and log in as usual.
- Open the Tee Sniper panel — the green panel docked on the right of the page.
- Paste your license key.
- Set your date, course, time window, players, and the booking opens time (usually 7:00 AM, five days before the play date — check with your course).
- Click ARM.
- Leave the tab open and in front — don’t switch to another tab in that window or minimise it. Come back to a booked tee time. ✅
What each setting does
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Play date | The day you want to play. The sniper waits for that date's release morning. |
| Course | The course name, exactly as it appears on the booking site. |
| Course time zone | The course's time zone — not yours. This is how 7:00 AM is calculated. |
| Earliest / Latest tee time | Your acceptable window. The sniper books the first time it finds inside it — set the start a little earlier than your ideal. Ideal 8:30? Set 8:00. An 8:27 booking beats a perfect window and an empty tee sheet. |
| Players | 1–4 golfers. |
| Booking opens | The release time for that date — usually 7:00 AM, five days before play. |
| Keep my computer awake | While armed, keeps the screen on, which also stops the computer sleeping from inactivity; releases when you disarm. It can't stop a laptop sleeping when the lid is closed. See overnight runs below. |
| Keep watching all day | If nothing appears at release, stays armed and refreshes the sheet periodically to grab any cancellation in your window. An active course login is required — CPS may log you out after 1–2 hours. Tee Sniper detects the logout and sounds an alarm; turn on Auto sign-in to have it log you back in. |
| Auto sign-in (optional) | Off by default. Enter your course login email and password, click Save, and switch it on. If the course logs you out, Tee Sniper signs you back in and carries on. It tries at most twice, then stops and sounds the alarm so you can log in by hand. It also stops straight away if the course rejects the password, or shows an “are you human” check (tick it and log in yourself; monitoring resumes on its own). The login is saved only in this browser, for that one course site, and is sent only to that course's sign-in page. |
| Book prepaid up to $___ | Payment authorization. Off = the sniper only books rounds with $0 due at booking. On with a limit = it will also book paid rounds, never above your limit. Your card details stay with the course — Tee Sniper never sees them. |
Leaving it armed overnight
- Plug in the laptop.
- Keep the lid open. Closing the lid puts most laptops to sleep no matter what any software says.
- Keep the course tab in front. Leave it as the visible tab, ideally in its own window, and don’t minimise that window. Browsers slow down background tabs, which can make Tee Sniper late at release.
- Pause overnight OS updates and auto-restart.
- Turn on Keep my computer awake in the panel.
- Optional: turn on Auto sign-in in the panel, so a course logout overnight doesn't stop monitoring.
Optional extra insurance for power users: Windows — Microsoft's free
PowerToys → Awake;
Mac — run caffeinate -dims in Terminal (Ctrl+C to stop);
Linux (Ubuntu) — run systemd-inhibit --what=idle:sleep:handle-lid-switch --why="Tee Sniper" sleep infinity
in a terminal and leave it open (Ctrl+C to stop; this one keeps the laptop awake even with the lid closed).
Desktops with sleep disabled need none of this.
⚠️ One thing we can't control: CPS may log you out after 1–2 hours (session timeouts are up to them, not us). Tee Sniper detects the logout and sounds an alarm. With Auto sign-in on, it logs you back in and resumes; if that fails twice, or the course shows an “are you human” check, you must log back in yourself before monitoring can resume. Don't rely on unattended overnight monitoring.
Tee Groups: share bookings with your crew
Tee Groups (teesniper.club) is where your golf crew sees your tee times, taps I’m in or I’m out, and chats. Connect it once and Tee Sniper adds every booking for you:
- In Tee Groups, on your dashboard’s Tee Sniper card, choose where bookings go and click Connect Tee Sniper. Copy the code (it’s shown once).
- In the Tee Sniper panel, paste it into Tee Groups code (optional) and click Connect.
- The line underneath says Connected (code ending …). ✅
Keep the code private: anyone with it can add tee times for you. Not connected? After a booking, the panel shows Add booking to Tee Groups so you can add that one by hand. The full Tee Groups guide covers groups, invites, chat, email alerts and the home-screen app.
Reading the log
The ACTIVITY section at the bottom of the panel narrates everything: the release reload, what it sees on the sheet, what it clicks. Two lines you'll want to recognize:
Hunting… 54 slots on sheet, none in 08:30–09:14 yet— the release worked; those 54 times just weren't in your window. Widen the window next time.Settings changed while armed (timeStart …) — DISARMED— something edited a setting mid-run (even a mouse wheel over a time field can do it). The log names the exact field.
The compatibility report button
If something on your course's booking page doesn't work — or a booking fails — the panel can send us a tiny compatibility report that helps us fix it, for you and for everyone else on that layout.
- You see exactly what's in it. Before anything is sent, the panel shows a preview of six fields: course website, detected layout, language, result, extension version, and time.
- Nothing sends itself. The report goes only if you choose Send. Choose Cancel and nothing leaves your browser. The Ask me when booking fails checkbox controls whether the panel offers a report after a failed run.
- It's six fields, nothing else. No name, email, license key, login or booking
details — ever. A
manualresult simply means no booking outcome was captured; it does not mean your booking failed. - What we do with reports: they're stored and reviewed for repeated failures, unfamiliar layouts and version-specific problems. A report doesn't automatically fix anything or open a support ticket — and because no email is collected, we can't reply to one.
Want a reply, or want to tell us more? Email support@teesniper.app — that always works, report or no report. Your IP address reaches our server with any report (as with any web request) and may appear in hosting logs; it's also used temporarily to limit spam. See our privacy policy.
Something didn't work? Send us the log
The compatibility report button above is the quick version — but the log shows us exactly what happened on your run. Two steps:
- In the Tee Sniper panel, tap the ⧉ copy button next to ACTIVITY — that copies your whole log.
- Paste it into an email to support@teesniper.app with the subject ATTN: Caddy Misfire, plus a line about what went wrong.
A human (William) reads these — usually same day.
Common questions
It says "Checking license with server…" and nothing happens.
Refresh the course tab (F5) — always do this once after installing or updating the extension. If it persists, check your connection and that your key is pasted exactly.
Times appeared but nothing was booked.
Check the log. If it says none in [window] yet, the released times were outside your window — the engine will not book outside your window, by design.
Why did it disarm itself?
Because a setting changed while armed. The log names which one. Re-arm, and leave the panel alone.
Do I need to babysit it at 7 AM?
No. Arm it about 15 minutes before release and double-check your settings. As long as the course tab stays open and in front and the computer can't fall asleep, it's safe to walk away — but we recommend sticking around to enjoy the show.
Can I use my browser while it's armed?
Yes — just do it in a different window. Drag the course tab out into its own window (or open a new window for browsing) and leave the course window visible, not minimised. Switching to another tab in the same window puts the course tab in the background, where the browser slows it down.
